Well done to Year 9 for completing their exams last week – These will be marked by teachers and results will be sent home via a Progress Report. The results from the Year 7 Exams are due to be published this week.

Assemblies:

This week Mrs Bowman will be taking the assemblies to talk about Arts Week which will take place between 19 and 23 June. There will be a number of activities and events for all year groups. We will send home further details after the launch.

Personal Development:

In tutor this week, students will focus on Fair Trade and Sustainability. They will focus on the following questions:

  • Year 7: What is Fair Trade?
  • Year 8: What is sustainability?
  • Year 9: What is ‘consumer power’?
  • Year 10: What is a ‘life cycle assessment’ and why does it matter?

Mental Health Awareness Week:

Next week is Mental Health Awareness Week on the theme of ‘anxiety’. According to The Mental Health Foundation ‘anxiety is a normal emotion in us all, but sometimes it can get out of control and become a mental health problem.

Lots of things can lead to feelings of anxiety, including exam pressures, relationships, starting a new job (or losing one) or other big life events. We can also get anxious when it comes to things to do with money and not being able to meet our basic needs, like heating our home or buying food.

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems we can face. In a recent mental health survey carried out around stress, anxiety and hopelessness over personal finances, a quarter of adults said they felt so anxious that it stopped them from doing the things they want to do some or all of the time. Six in ten adults feel this way, at least some of the time. On a positive note, anxiety can be made easier to manage’. There are some hints/ tips on The Mental Health Foundation website: https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/our-work/public-engagement/mental-health-awareness-week/what-can-we-do-cope-feelings-anxiety or you can visit our wellbeing page on our website: https://www.thehambleschool.co.uk/student-wellbeing-resources/
