Theme of the Week: Rewards and Celebration

This week the Heads of Year will be hosting the assemblies and students will receive end of term certificates/ prizes linked to our vision of ‘We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together’.

'We Care, We Aim High, We Learn and Achieve Together'

In the Personal Development sessions of tutor time, students will focus on the following questions:

  • How can I ensure success?
  • How can I build intrinsic reward?

Many of our students have now achieved bronze and silver awards. A few have managed to get to gold/ ruby. Students have until 30 June to collect points, if they would like to attend the platinum trip – This is a surprise at the moment but will include time out of school on Wednesday 19 July and a small cost of around £11.

As you may be aware every year we host a prestigious awards ceremony for students who have been nominated for annual prizes. This year the event will take place on Thursday 13 July at the Hilton Ageas. Invitations will be sent to nominated students in due course.

Social Media

Last week we dealt with some incidents in school which happened as a direct result of Social Media communication outside of school. It is important that when children are in school they are focussed on learning and education.

We would advise all parents/ carers to check their children’s social media regularly and ensure that they only have access to apps which are age appropriate. The NSPCC also provide some useful advice on keeping children safe online: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/#guides

If you have any concerns, please use our Report It button on the school homepage: https://www.thehambleschool.co.uk/report-concerns/

HC3S – School Meals

HC3S (Hampshire County Council catering provider) has issued the following information to schools:

‘The current economic climate continues to be a challenge for all and HC3S is also facing significant increases in food and pay costs, with further escalation in food prices anticipated. Unfortunately, the Government’s 7p increase for Universal Infant Free School Meals in the funding settlement is not sufficient to cover these rising prices.

HC3S is committed to pricing meals solely to cover costs, without making a profit. Despite efforts and negotiations with suppliers, food prices have exceeded budgeted levels, and reducing the nutritional content or portion sizes of meals is not considered an appropriate option.

Consequently, HC3S must increase the school meal price by 20p, from £2.80 to £3, for all meal types from 5 June 2023’.
